One of my FAVORITE play-based activities in speech-language therapy is FARM PLAY for so many reasons! Today in the speech room we've been practicing animal sounds; practicing bilabial sounds like BIG PIG and Mooooo; using/modeling core words like want, like, more, do, stop, go, see, and not; learning vocabulary words like up, down, in front of, next to, and behind; talking about what the animals like and do NOT like; and discussing what animals we would like to have as pets! We also targeted emergent literacy skills by pairing the farm activity with picture books and talking about what we saw in the books. And it seems to be unanimous...the more animals the better!
