Meet Lisa!
Director | Owner
A native of Yorktown Virginia, Lisa founded Yorktown Therapy Services with a passion and vision for helping children and their families. Lisa worked for many years in the public school, outpatient rehabilitation, and private practice settings, and served individuals of varying abilities and from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Lisa also had the privilege of training other generations of professionals working as Clinical Assistant Professor at a university and as Learning Consultant for an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) company. Lisa taught undergraduate and graduate students in speech-language pathology and special education, and she developed various trainings and programs for individuals with complex communication needs.
Despite how much Lisa loved all these experiences, she felt compelled to return to what she was truly passionate about -- providing engaging, fun, evidence-based intervention for children with communication and related challenges. So Lisa opened Yorktown Therapy Services right in the building of her husband's dental practice (Geary Family and Cosmetic Dentistry) where they share space and a love for helping people! In this setting, it is Lisa's honor and privilege to serve the families in her very own hometown, Yorktown, VA, as well as families in the greater Hampton Roads area.
